“Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have.” – Jim Rohn
The following Life on Life story was submitted by Life Member, Danielle Douglass:
Life Members from Team Alpha Omega extended helping hands to the “Hands on Kirkwood” event in Missouri for the Life on Life Initiative. Each year, Kirkwood, a suburb of St. Louis County, holds a large event to serve the community. The event, Hands-on-Kirkwood, is a “mission ALL community project” that organizes a variety of projects, including a Greentree Parade where volunteers wheel trash cans around the community and pick up trash; a neighborhood bag drop which services multiple organizations, including a nursing moms organization. In addition, Team AO assisted with the winter clothes drive where anyone who is in need can come and get clothing. The event assists over 500 families! The clothing drive specifically gives away over 11,000 articles of clothing. Team Alpha Omega chose to work behind the scenes by setting up the room to make this event possible.
“Volunteering is one of the most rewarding acts of love and kindness that makes my heart smile because you know you’re making a difference. With the “Hands on Kirkwood” event, that feeling of making a difference was sooo much more rewarding because you’re sharing an experience with a community of people like ‘Team AO’ who share the same vision and goals but truly understand the importance of giving of one’s time, energy, and gifts. It was great!! We laughed, we played, we sang; we had fun while making a difference.” – Monesia Hardin (Life Member)
“I really enjoyed my experience serving at the Kirkwood Life on Life event. Just knowing our efforts will put a smile on someone’s face, there’s no greater gift than being a blessing to others.” – Jamar Wright (Life Member)
Thank you to all of the Life Members who served in this Life on Life Initiative from Team Alpha Omega, under the leadership of Raymond and Tina Abernathy. Your acts of service truly made a difference for Hands on Kirkwood.
