“The most favorable way to influence a population is through literacy.” –George Guzzardo
There is something so special about a company that is passionate about making a difference. Typically, we hear of corporations that have strong intentions to serve and give back to local causes, but rarely do the ideas get put into action. However, Life Leadership is vastly different from the “norm.” When Orrin Woodward and the founders birth an idea–especially one with the potential for global impact–immediate execution takes place. In fact, before the public announcement of the “Life on Life” Initiative by CEO Chris Brady at the 2015 Summer Leadership Convention, several Life Leadership members were already out driving the operation by contributing time and resources to local charities. You can check out those stories here:
Additionally, the inspiration of “magnet-bombing” for charities evolved into a trend that Life Leadership members everywhere have adopted; and it is quickly becoming a massive movement within the community. Truly, there are endless ways to motivate people to make a difference, and adding this dimension of fun to the mix was a brilliant way to incorporate individual “Life on Life” activities to the large scope of influence that the community is already having with local missions.
When it comes to internal motivation from the office staff–who work tirelessly behind the scenes–Life Leadership isn’t sparing any opportunities to extend its reach. CEO Chris Brady and COO Rob Hallstrand recently decided to partner the corporate office, located in Cary, North Carolina, with a local literacy organization. Employees at the Life Leadership World Headquarters, along with their families, now have the opportunity to volunteer and serve as a part of this “Life on Life” Initiative.
“The Triangle Literacy Council (TLC) improves the lives of adults, youth and families by teaching basic literacy and life skills for economic and social success. For over 45 years, TLC has been serving individuals and families in the Triangle region of Raleigh, North Carolina, with literacy and basic skills programming to improve lives through community and individual success. TLC provides literacy programming across a broad spectrum of individuals and families, for all age groups, for families and their pre-school children, for youth involved with the juvenile justice system, incarcerated women, inmates in county jails, and for the unemployed. Programs are offered for Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language, one-on-one tutoring with trained volunteers, a Juvenile Literacy Center for youth involved with the juvenile court system or at risk of being involved, financial literacy, life skills, civics and government, and specifically tailored workplace literacy.” –TLC Mission Statement
Life Leadership is devoted to and intentional about improving literacy around the world. The statistics of people who can’t read is alarming. The “Life on Life” Initiative is all about serving those people who need assistance to function in society. Without proficient literacy, functional freedom is nearly impossible to attain. That is why the corporate staff members who choose to participate in this literacy initiative will receive two hours weekly of paid time by the office if they volunteer to tutor a student to help them read. Staff members will also receive “in-house” training from TLC personnel at the Life Leadership corporate headquarters, where they will learn the basics of tutoring someone who struggles with reading.
“Personally, it was without question that I would participate. Helping people is truly the key to happiness. My specific passion is to help young women and young mothers who have not yet had an opportunity to flower or have been the victims of domestic abuse. I am so proud to be part of a company that is taking a stand for literacy; truly making a positive impact!” -Michelle Turner (Life Leadership Marketing & Obstaclés Press Manager)
Lastly, because Life Leadership products are designed specifically to improve people’s thinking, the company is also donating $1 of corporate funds for every Life Leadership subscription to global partnerships that promote literacy. It is with great optimism that these initiatives will make an impact in providing functional freedom for the masses en route to the overall mission of reaching millions of people with Life Leadership.
