“There’s a very encouraging trend in the business world today…and it’s called Social Entrepreneurship. Or maybe–it’s called Conscious Capitalism. It’s where companies are as much about making a difference as they are about making money.” –Chris Brady
Imagine a company that gathers like-minded, driven people, teaches them to be hugely effective in their finances, relationships, discipline, attitude, etc., helps them create multiple sources of income by incentivizing “paying it forward,” rewards them with trips around the world to make lasting memories, AND encourages them to go out and serve those who can’t serve themselves. This is the kind of company that truly makes a difference, and this is Life Leadership.
After years of teaching communities to Have Fun, Make Money and Make a Difference, the founders of Life Leadership decided to formally promote a new kind of movement–namely, the LIFE on Life Initiative. Although completely voluntary in nature, LIFE on Life has taken a front seat in the workings of this rapidly expanding company.
“The LIFE on Life Initiative is a corporate strategy for us to work together as a community to make sure that we make the right choice, that we make it together–that we make it in fun ways–but that we make it in meaningful ways.” -Chris Brady
When you think of serving in your community, what kind of opportunities pop into your head? Sometimes–if you’re not intentional about finding ways that you can help–it’s easy to let the “back-burner” issues of our society pass us by, day after day. Thankfully–with LIFE on Life–groups of people around the globe have decided to make it their business to search out the needs in their local communities…and fill them. One such story of selfless serving comes from a team of close-knit individuals in the great state of Texas. On July 25th of 2015, around forty-five Life Leadership members from the Dallas-Fort Worth area gave of their time alongside an organization called Captain Hope’s Kids.
“Captain Hope’s Kids was founded in 1989 as The Hope Foundation for the Homeless. During the early 1990s however, mothers with small children became one of the fastest-growing segments of the homeless population, and more babies were being born into homelessness. In 1994, we officially became Captain Hope’s Kids; dedicating all of our time, resources and attention to meeting the needs of homeless children. In 2014, we served over 45,000 children across Dallas and Fort Worth, distributing 944,731 critically needed items valued at over $2.5 million dollars. Of these items, we distributed 13,485 diapers and training pants each week for infants and toddlers.” -Captain Hope’s Kids Website
While Captain Hope’s Kids provides opportunities to help in various ways throughout the year, the “Back to School Backpacks” outreach was what caught the eye of the event coordinator, Kristal Seid. After spinning the vision among friends and business associates, this group assembled over three hundred backpacks for homeless children as a part of their monthly get-together. Here are just a few comments as they wrapped up their day:
“I was inspired as the enthusiasm of the Captain Hope’s Kids staff for this project spread to the Life Leadership volunteers; and it was great to know that we were working for a worthy cause!!” -Adam Arnold (Life Leadership Member)
“Saturday was an amazing day of having fun AND making a difference. The whole team was excited to serve the homeless children of the DFW Metroplex, and we can’t wait for November–when we will have a fundraiser for hygiene kits, and then meet up to assemble them.” -Kristal Seid (Life Leadership Member)
“Volunteers are the ones that make the mission of Captain Hope’s Kids a reality, and without those that selflessly give of themselves, we would never be able to accomplish what we do.” -Sam Mattox (Program Director for Captain Hope’s Kids)
Isn’t it inspiring to think that with just a little bit of coordination and a big heart, you can make a huge difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate than you? In this story alone, three hundred homeless children will benefit from a day of service of a group of “everyday” people.
Life Leadership is proud to be represented by this noble Texan crew, and we can’t wait to hear how you are able to make a difference with LIFE on Life! Don’t forget to leave a comment below! 🙂

It is wonderful to be a part of a group of people that takes time to get together to help others. Not just that, they have fun at it as well. I am sure the children who receive the supplies will feel at least normal and most likely special! Well done!
