“You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – John Bunyan
With all of the incredible Life on Life stories happening around the world, it is obvious that Life Members are some of the most selfless people on the planet. At the New Year’s Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, one team organized an event at the convention that would impact the lives of local men, women and children who are homeless. It was such a creative idea and we hope the story will inspire other teams to get involved at future leadership conventions!
Promotional Event Flyer:
Imagine that; Life Members taking their unused complimentary hotel hygiene items and donating the items to people in need. That’s exactly what this Wisconsin team decided to do on Sunday, January 24th of the New Year’s Summit. Sometimes it’s the simplest ideas that have the greatest impact.
The participants of this project collected and donated three reusable totes filled with toiletries and hygiene items. When the items were delivered to Wayside Christian Mission following the convention, the totes were enthusiastically received with one staff member commenting, “we can ALWAYS use this stuff.”
“It was a really awesome experience to donate stuff we weren’t going to use anyway.” – Jeremy Pethke (Life Member)
“We didn’t take a shower all weekend just so we could donate more 😉 …..maybe that’s why no one sat near us.” – Julie Vrieze (Life Member)
“Small items can make such a monumental difference when placed in the hands of those who need them.” – Shelby Zeier (Life Member)
Life is so proud to represent Members who are constantly thinking of others. The simplicity and creativity of this project certainly made a difference in the lives of those who need it in Louisville. We believe this story could create a Life on Life trend at future conventions! Thank you to all of those who organized, participated, and donated items from Team Results, under the leadership of Bob and Tina Rasmussen.

I talked to this young lady. What an amazing idea. Are they going to do it again at the next Leadership, for a local mission there? if so we will start collecting now and bring it to Kansas City. Many of us travel either for our jobs, or with Life, and would love to help out.

That is such a inspiring, thoughtful idea. Maybe we should place bins by the doors or lost and found tables, so everyone can participate. Then team leaders can each take some to different shelters on Sunday.
We take our own supplies anyways, we don’t use the hotel supplies.
Imagine the difference that can be made if ten thousand donate.
Love Life Leadership

Tina, great thinking. This was Shelby Zeier’s original thought and will definitely make a bigger difference if more teams get involved. It will need to be a community-led effort though for those who decide to get involved in Kansas City. Thanks!

This was such an amazing idea by Shelby Zeier, and she did such a great job coordinating it, along with identifying a shelter that could use the items. They were absolutely thrilled with the donation. Shelby is planning another Life on Life initiative for the Kansas City location in April. We would love it if other teams wanted to donate. Stay tuned for more details!

One of the things that keeps striking me about the Life On Life Initiative, beyond the caring hearts and selfless giving, is the creativity of the participants. Thoughtfulness is probably the best word to describe it. God bless you guys for seeing a need and coming up with a creative way to fill it.
I love being associated with such fine people!
Keep serving!
