“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” – Charles Dickens
There were so many Life on Life stories in 2015 that we were not able to publish all of them before the year’s end. However, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be shared. We certainly don’t want to diminish the impact that Life Leadership Members continue to make in the lives of others.
On Saturday, December 5th, 2015, twenty Life Leadership Members organized a day of service at Christ Child House in Detroit, Michigan.
What is Christ Child House?
Christ Child House has been providing care for abused and neglected children in Detroit since 1948. It provides residential services for up to 31 boys, ages 5 through 17, who suffer emotional, behavioral and physical impairment resulting from severe abuse and neglect. Currently there are 21 boys living there.
The Christ Child House philosophy is that It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.
Life Leadership Members helped in a variety of ways:
- Cleaning and organizing linens & closets
- Removing old & installing new bookshelves
- Organizing books for the reading nook
- Decorating for Christmas
- Cleaning the outdoor storage shed
- Cleaning and organizing equipment in the huge outdoor athletic barn
- Helping sort and organize Christmas gifts for the boys living in the home
- Creating a space for a workout area and assembling the gym equipment
- General cleaning
- Donating a pillow for each boy, board games, hygiene products, etc.
Check out what some of the volunteers had to say:
“I loved being able to go out and serve those in need while knowing that it is all made possible through a business and commitment we have with our awesome company!” – Chelsea Perry (Life Leadership Member)
“It was my first experience volunteering for any community and it felt great to give my time and service to those who NEED it!” – Corey (Life Leadership Member)
“It was nice to be able to grow our hearts so we can grow our business.” – Nick Johnson (Life Leadership Member)
“I loved serving today! The staff and boys were so kind! This is my passion & I will continue to love & serve!” – Kelly Johnson (Life Leadership Member)
“I was grateful to hear the stories of the children and know that today we were able to be helpful to make their lives better.” – Judy Entrekin (Life Leadership Member)
“I liked that we all were able to use our strengths in areas we like to help in, not everyone doing the same thing. We worked with people that were happy to help and glad to serve!” – Kristen Hampton (Life Leadership Member)
“I liked helping stack books for the kids.” – Conner Stinson (6 years old)

Way To Go Samurai TBD! Awesome job you guys. So many varied tasks which can be daunting for the few, yet ALL of you whittled away & created a masterpiece woven in love. On the outside it may look like chores, where from the inside all your efforts touched the hearts of many. We all know about listening to stories and hearing the personal stories of these boys I can only imagine provided a whole different spin as to why you were there. Thank you Brandon & Chelsea for spearheading this event and to each & every one of you who were in attendance giving your all as well as offering donations, A Big High Five & Way To Go!!
