“Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” – Pat Riley
Life is a company built upon excellence. Whether someone’s role is to sell life-changing products, build a compensated community of entrepreneurs or participate behind the scenes at the corporate office, the purpose remains the same: to serve, to lead and to model excellence. At each staff meeting, a Golden Rascal Award is given to one corporate office employee who embodies these, and many other important qualities. While this award could be given to any number of people, only one “Golden Rascal” is chosen – which is what makes winning the award so special. In September of 2016, the winner of the Golden Rascal Award was Customer Service Representative, Mary Ferrell. Check out her interview below!
Life Corporate Features Golden Rascal Winner – Mary Ferrell
First of all, tell us a little about yourself.
Sure! I was born in upstate New York and raised between New York and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I spent every summer there from the time I was 8 until I was 13 years old. I have five older siblings- 3 brothers and 2 sisters that are all between 9-14 years older than me. I have two daughters (Brittany 27 and Mackenzie 23) and Mackenzie currently attends the University of California, Santa Cruz.
How did you land your position with Life Corporate?
At the time I was working for a temp agency when they called me and told me about Life and asked if I would be interested in doing something like this. I was definitely interested!
How long have you been with Life and what is your current role with the company?
I have been with Life since February 2015 and I am a Customer Service Representative.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is the daily rewards of seeing that the Members are happy. I am not happy until the Members are happy!
Do you have a favorite book in the Life product portfolio?
I love the book, Grown Up Girlfriends – I think even as we grow older we all need to have those friends that we can confide in, have fun with, have girl weekends with, and just be ourselves with.
I also love Letters to Lindsey, by Terri Brady!
What would you say is your lifelong passion?
As crazy as it sounds, I love the beach and the south. Oh, and Marine Biology! I have loved anything and everything about the ocean. I yearn to learn as much as I can about it. The beach and the south go hand in hand. I might have been born a Yankee, but I am a southerner at heart. Sometimes it is hard to explain, but once it gets into your soul, it’s there for life. You dream about it and it’s the only place you want to be.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation – I would love to go to places I have never been and even back to places I love- like the Florida Keys, Australia, and Italy!
If you had a time machine, where would you go – back in time or into the future and why?
Back in time:
- To tell my mom I love her one last time before she passed away.
- I wish I could have met my boyfriend sooner in life.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“Take the time to listen to the serenity of the waves upon the shore.”
Well, to wrap up, what do you enjoy doing when you aren’t working?
I love reading, crafts, planning the future, holidays, decorating, going to the movies with friends, traveling and exploring new places with my boyfriend, and going to the beach. I love exploring new places and just having fun with a friend, photography, baking, and spending time with my 11-year-old wiener dog, Raider!
Life is so thankful for the efforts that the corporate office employees put into their work. Congratulations to Mary Ferrell for winning the prestigious Golden Rascal Award for the month of September! It is well-deserved.
