“Who do you serve? Who do you help? Who do you love? …write your name on people’s hearts.” – Chris Brady
The Life on Life Initiative continues to make a difference in communities all around the world. During the month of September, several areas were affected by the extreme devastation and disaster of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. In fact, in the East Region, the American Red Cross had to cancel 48 blood drives- which resulted in roughly 1300 lifesaving units of blood to go uncollected to meet patient need. To put this in perspective, since each donation can save 3 lives, this shortage impacted a minimum of 3,900 people.
So, in an effort to provide some relief, the Life Corporate Headquarters in North Carolina hosted its 2nd Annual Life on Life Blood Drive for the American Red Cross. Prior to the event, several Life employees donated their time by organizing the event, recruiting donors, and providing food and beverages for the event. As a result, the Life Office was able to impact a minimum of 84 lives in a matter 4.5 hours.
“Giving blood is a great way to directly help others in dire need. I am very proud of the Life organization and all of the employees and field members who participated in this very important public service. This is truly what the Life on Life Initiative is all about!” – Chris Brady (CEO of Life)
Check out what some of the Life Staff had to say about this life-saving blood drive:
“It was super rewarding to be part of such a small gesture that has such a large impact.” – Steve Kendall (Director of Marketing)
“I was hesitant at first because I haven’t given blood in over 20 years. But with all that is going on in the world right now, I felt it was one small thing I could do to possibly save a life! #savinglives #LifeonLife” – Michelle Turner (Marketing and Obstacles Press Manager)
“You don’t have to be a doctor, paramedic, or a superhero to save a life….or 3.” – Curtis Williams (Compliance Specialist)
“Donating blood for the first time was a little scary but the experience was easy, virtually pain free, and 100% rewarding. I will definitely donate again.” – Christine Webster (Accounting Manager)
“I have been a blood donor for as long as I can remember. What I find most satisfying about donating is the exponential impact it has – one pint of my blood can save three lives. I am grateful to work for a company that places such a high value on missions, given the numerous projects we are involved with at the corporate level.” – Jay Russell (Director of International Operations)
“This was my first time giving blood but won’t be my last. This is the second Life on Life event I’ve participated in since joining the company last year and I’m grateful to be able to help others in such a meaningful way. Giving blood is an easy way to have a huge impact on the lives of others and I’m proud to work for a company that cares so much about making a difference in the lives of those in need!” – Kevin Bubacz (IT Developer)
“If you had a chance to save a life, even unknowingly, why wouldn’t you do it? You never know if your blood will save the person sitting next to or across from you. Giving blood is an invaluable resource, and I look forward to donating next time as well. “ – Jake Hayes (Retail Manager)
The Life corporate team was proud to support the American Red Cross in this life-saving Life on Life Initiative. We are so thankful for the all of the Life Staff and local Life Members who donated blood and helped to make our company blood drive a success!
