As the years roll on, it is becoming increasingly clear that Life Leadership has a knack of attracting to its community some of the world’s most character-based individuals. When it comes to achieving something worthwhile, true entrepreneurs are the first-in-line to embrace some hard work over the long haul. Thankfully, Life Leadership not only provides world-class materials to enhance and change a person’s life for the better, but it also rewards those that take and share that information with the communities around them. Charles and Frédérique Clermont, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, have done exactly that; and because of their determination, thousands of others’ lives are being positively influenced around the world.
“The law of Life says that hard work and struggle must precede the joy and fulfillment of accomplishment, the true enjoyment of life.” –Jerry Harteis
Charles (Charly) and Frédérique (Freddie) have always felt the need to make a difference in their struggling country of Haiti, and they’ve lived their lives to do as much as they can to help their fellow countrymen. The history of the small island-country is far from uneventful–with numerous dictatorships, slavery, wars, unrest and natural disasters. When looking in from the outside, sometimes it can seem like there is no hope, but those that call Haiti their home are not giving up. When Freddie saw the need to help a friend start a sewing business back in the nineties, she jumped at the opportunity and began learning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship. Charly was working diligently under US Aid in Logistical Services and Training at the time, but unfortunately the program had to be discontinued because of the ensuing Embargo.
Right around this slice of their life, the couple was introduced to the concept of community-building and networking, and they decided to give it a shot. Shortly thereafter, a Haitian gentleman that was living in Puerto Rico came back to team up with them to train others in leadership under the umbrella of the Success Motivation Institute. Through a windy course of crazy events, Charly and Freddie got connected with their present mentors and friends, Ken and Joan Hendon and Jerry and Polly Harteis. As the couple continued to use the principles that they were learning to climb the corporate ladder of success in Haiti, they also started to travel to conferences all over with different companies and organizations. During this period, they had the privilege to meet some of the most influential leadership experts in the world, such as, John Maxwell, Brian Tracey and Ron Ball.
When one digs through all of the details of the many years that Charly and Freddie were figuring out this new industry and what it had in store for them, (not to mention, while living in one of the poorest countries in the world), it is inspiring to realize how much this resilient couple just took the punches and ran with them. Looking back, both Charly and Freddie agree that they fell in love with the concept of buying in to a proven system and duplicating it with others. Did they always know what was coming next?–Of course not! But they were willing to sacrifice short-term convenience for long-term success.
Enter Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady and Life Leadership. When Charly and Freddie–along with their mentors–witnessed the character and purpose that the (future) founders of Life Leadership were operating with, they threw themselves into the mix of excitement as this new company was getting ready to be launched. In late 2011, Life Leadership roared into the marketplace and started on its rocket-like journey to the top. This was something that they could believe in! Instead of marketing a product to the world, Life Leadership was marketing a lifestyle.
“Life Leadership is structurally designed to perfectly fit the needs of our people. We just follow the system as closely as possible to what the founders intended when they designed it.” -Charly Clermont
Although it wasn’t yet open in Haiti, Jerry Harteis encouraged them to “Just do it,” and coined the phrase, “Guys, you have to perform and when you have the numbers, everything will happen.” Charly and Freddie quickly found that the credibility of the founders was extraordinary. Anything that they promised, they did. For the first couple of years, the growing Haitian team had their Life Leadership subscriptions and materials shipped to Florida, and then paid a broker to bring the shipments over as freight into Haiti.
“People in Haiti have always been very eager to grow. We have a lot of ambition, but we’ve never had anything to apply it to. We were waiting and praying for something good. Haitians don’t necessarily need foreigners to help them…We just want to be able to help ourselves. We are very hungry to learn and move forward.” -Freddie Clermont
As the community of Life Leadership members and customers in Haiti began to pick up speed, the founders again honored their commitment by taking over the shipping process and eventually–with the help of Charly and Freddie and the other Haitian leaders–coordinating the weekly and monthly events through the use of the Total Access Subscription. Today, Haiti boasts one of the fastest growing organizations in the world with thousands of active Life Leadership members and customers; and more of their current success can be read about in our earlier post:
When interviewing Charly and Freddie Clermont, it was interesting to find that their story was not one of an “overnight” success, but rather one of consistent determination to follow their calling in life. Although very successful outside of Life Leadership through their many corporate pursuits, Charly and Freddie credit all of their prosperity (inside and outside of Life Leadership) to a constant hunger for personal and professional growth–the exact commodity that Life Leadership is leading the market in providing. This incredible couple doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Because of their outreach around the country, they are having a big impact in many circles; and because of their attention to how the Life Leadership system works, they are now a lot more dispensable. Charly and Freddie have embraced the principles being taught and maximized the impact of the Life Leadership opportunity in their country. Their vision is to fill an arena with 25,000 Haitian members in the next couple of years…
“I believe that God saved my life in the earthquake to fulfill a purpose. My mission is to establish a critical mass of entrepreneurs in Haiti, educated under a new type of leadership. Through LIFE, we teach responsible leadership—where you’re not only influential, but influential in the right direction.” -Charly Clermont
